Company Presentation – Thor Explorations

Thor Explorations Ltd is a West African focused gold producer listed on both the TSX Venture Exchange (TSX-V: THX) and AIM (AIM: THX). Thor Explorations has successfully built and owns 100% of Nigeria’s only large-scale commercial gold mine, the Segilola Gold Project.

The Segilola Gold Project is located in Osun State, Nigeria, approximately 120 km northeast of Lagos. The Company produced 98,000 ounces of gold in 2022, its first year of production.

Thor Explorations also holds a 70% economic interest in the Douta Gold Project located in south-eastern Senegal, which has an inferred resource of 909,400 ounces of gold grading at 1.2g/t. The Company is advancing Douta through exploration with the aim of developing the prospective gold project as its second mine. The Company’s exploration portfolio in the region covers approximately 1,300 km² of prospective gold-bearing ground.

More recently Thor Explorations has secured over 600km2 of granted tenure in south-west Nigeria to explore lithium bearing pegmatite deposits. The tenure in Nigeria forms West Oyo, Kwara State and Ekiti State Lithium Project Areas. The West Oyo Project Area encompasses what Thor considers to be Nigeria’s most significant lithium pegmatite occurrence and is currently being exploited by small-scale lithium mining.

Segun Lawson, CEO

Segun Lawson is the Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of Thor Explorations Ltd, Nigeria’s first large scale gold producer listed on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange and the TSX-V market of the Toronto Stock Exchange.  Segun founded African Star Resources which carried out a reverse takeover of Thor Explorations Ltd, where he has been the CEO of since the transaction in August 2011. Since then, he has identified and led all of Thor’s acquisitions and financings establishing Thor’s footprint in West Africa where the Company is advancing projects in Nigeria, Senegal and Burkina Faso.

In particular, Segun identified and completed the acquisition of the Segilola Gold Project in Nigeria which was developed by Thor through the entire mining value chain from Maiden Resource, through preliminary feasibility, bankable feasibility, financing and construction.

As a result, Segun has led Thor’s growth through, overseeing the transition from a grassroots explorer to becoming Nigeria’s first large scale commercial gold producer and continues to lead Thor as it grows in West Africa and as a first mover in Nigeria where the mining industry is in its infancy and the company has a long-term belief in the potential of the sector.  Segun’s background is in Natural Resources Corporate Finance, Natural Resources Business Development and Natural Resources Project Finance.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College (UK) with Honours in Geology and has an MBA from Cass Business School. Mr Lawson had extensive transaction experience at Noble & Company, in the Mining and also Oil and Gas corporate finance areas, and also experience at Premier Oil in identifying and negotiating new West African opportunities.  Segun is a Nigerian and citizen and has a strong network of contacts both in the UK, West Africa and China.

Support our friend Damian Cannon in his Charity endeavours to raise money for Tommy

Charity challenge – Our friend Damian Cannon, who many investors will know as the creator of the StockSlam and a regular Mello Monday BASH panellist, and all-round lovely chap, is completing a truly remarkable challenge for a very worthwhile charity. He’s going to run up (almost) to the top of The Leadenhall Building before taking a 130m zip-wire through the void to The Gherkin! I feel bilious even thinking about it. Anyway, if you can bung his charity, Tommy’s, which funds research and support into pregnancy and baby loss, a few quid towards his £2500 target, I know he’d be very grateful for your support. Link here to his donating page.
