Mr Ravi Takhar, CEO at Orchard Funding Group, has over 35 years’ experience in the acquisition, growth, financing and disposal of financial businesses. Mr Takhar joined Bexhill UK Limited in 2002 and has led the growth of its business to its current size. Prior to creating the group, Ravi was an investment banker and head of Financial Services investment at Nikko, the Japanese investment bank, from 1998 to 2002 as well as chairman of Mortgages PLC, the mortgage lender. Mr Takhar was also head of Mortgage Principal Finance at Investec Bank PLC from 2005 to 2008 and Chairman and Chief Risk Officer of Urban Exposure PLC, the development finance lender from 2009 to 2020. He qualified as a banking solicitor at Clifford Chance, a leading international law firm, and has an MA from the University of Oxford.

Andrew Hollingworth Fund Manager at Holland Advisors presents his investment ideas and strategies

Andrew is the founder of Holland Advisors and Portfolio Manager of the VT Holland Advisors Equity fund. The VT Holland Advisors Equity Fund, launched on 21st June 2021, has been converted from the Farnam Street Capital Fund which had been in existence since 2011. Andrew and Holland Advisors provide investment advisory services to some of the world’s largest Investment management houses. 

Andrew set up Holland Advisors in 2009 after a 20 year career in stock broking and fund management. He has had a passion for value and franchise investing for many years. When he is not in the office, Andrew can be found reading anything written by great investors or business managers, swinging a golf club or trying to keep up with his wife and teenage boys on a ski slope.

Robert has over 10 years’ experience working with high growth technology companies having spent several years working in listed venture capital. He joined Arix in 2017 as General Counsel and Company Secretary before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2019. He joined the Board in April 2021 and was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer whilst continuing to perform the role of General Counsel and Company Secretary. He began his career as a lawyer at international law firm Bird & Bird LLP in London. He has worked on over 70 venture capital financings in Europe and North America as well as multiple trade exits and IPOs, working with both company boards and investors to successfully execute complex cross-border transactions.

The AIC – Educational Presentation 

Nick Britton

The AIC is the trade body for closed-ended investment companies. The association represents a broad range of closed-ended investment companies, including investment trusts, REITs and Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs).

A former financial and business journalist, Nick joined the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) in 2015. He works with financial advisers and wealth managers, aiming to improve their understanding and usage of investment companies. As a journalist, Nick held roles including Editor of What Investment magazine and Head of Research at Vitesse Media, where he produced reports such as Directors’ Pay on AIM, the Cash Shells Directory, Institutional Investors in AIM and the VCT Report. He also edited the GrowthBusiness.co.uk website which is aimed at growth companies, their investors and advisers. Nick is married with three children and graduated from Cambridge University.
