Being able to vote is your right as a shareholder, whether you hold your shares directly or on an investment platform.
But at the moment, there’s no law saying that platforms have to pass on voting rights to their customers. Some fail to pass on these rights, decline to vote shares when requested or charge customers to vote.
The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has launched a campaign, ‘My share, my vote’, to make sure no shareholder is denied their right to vote.
Please sign the AIC’s petition to change company law so that platforms and other nominees cannot avoid passing on voting rights to their customers. -
