Since Montanaro was founded in 1991 its focus has been on generating superior investment returns for clients by exclusively investing in Small & MidCap companies.
To achieve this, Montanaro invests in “Quality Growth” businesses which possess the ability to deliver sustainable returns to shareholders.
We are conservative: we invest only in the highest “Quality Growth” companies We focus on identifying the highest Quality Growth companies in our investment universe. We do so because, in our opinion, these are the companies that deliver the highest returns over the long run. Doing this does not mean that we compromise on valuation: it is possible for “Quality Growth” to come at a reasonable price.
We are genuinely long-term: a low turnover, Buy & Hold approach Everyone says it, but very few do it: we are truly long-term investors. Our ideal holding period is “forever” and many of the companies we hold today have been in our funds for over a decade, some for 20 years. This is one reason why we do not always greet takeovers with the short-term joy felt by others.
We do not have Star Fund Managers: we work as a Team SmallCap investing is challenging without a cohesive team of people who work together. Our flat structure ensures everyone has a voice. Our Investment Committee is a democratic body where all members have a vote.
An entirely independent source of investment bank quality research for discretionary fund managers, produced by the investment companies team at Kepler Partners.
We specialise in building and executing bespoke marketing plans that are agreed with both the manager and board of the company. We work closely alongside existing corporate brokers, and have unparalleled capabilities to reach investors based across the whole of the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
We have achieved measurable success for clients in our objectives of broadening the shareholder base, increasing liquidity and narrowing the discount to NAV at which shares trade.

We believe that:
Capital markets will be shaped profoundly by global sustainability challenges, including climate change, pollution and essential investments in human capital, infrastructure and resource efficiency.
These trends will drive growth for well-positioned companies and create risks for those unable or unwilling to adapt.
Fundamental analysis which incorporates long term risks, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, enhances investment decisions.
We invest in companies and assets that are well positioned to benefit from the shift to a more sustainable global economy.
We offer a well-rounded suite of investment solutions spanning multiple asset classes seeking superior risk-adjusted returns over the medium to long term.
Across our investment portfolios, we seek higher quality companies with strong business models that demonstrate sound management of risk.
